The sense of Home is more than a function of place and time in the external environment. It is a deeply felt sense in the interior of your being. It arises in connection with your soul and an engaged, concerned relationship with the world...
The soul speaks through primal images revealing moral qualities beyond self-interest and is concerned with care for others and a desire for relationship. When you have compassion for others, you are welcoming in their humanity, which connects you to your own. Self-love is not cultivated through disengagement with life. It is through devotion to curiosity, wonder, sensing the unique nature of each living being, attunement to the richness of your interior life and nurturing a love of life that expands your awareness and rests you in the heart of Home.
When was the last time you really noticed the blades of grass under your feet? Have you noticed the texture as you walk? Does it feel spongy, hard, smooth, rough or something else? Are you curious about the interplay of the elements in the soil with the water, air, and sun and how they support that community of grasses? Have you allowed your imagination to wander and dream of things you have never seen or experienced before?
An Ode to the Garden of Home takes you into the world of a special garden and to the garden of life. As you read...allow your imagination to take you into the essence of each plant. Imagine yourself in the garden, feel and smell the air around you. Does it evoke memories of times in special places with your friends and loved ones? Reflect on times you have been in nature and your heart expanded with a sense of peace. What aspects of your Home do you carry wherever you go? Home is a compilation of the love you have felt for precious moments with those you cherish. Only through attention to those moments can you hold them in your heart.
Today, I am in Hawaii...and this little Gecko in the photo has been watching me as I write. Isn't he beautiful? His colors are so vivid, just like the landscape here. Those blue rings around his eyes and red spots on his back are truly that bright. I'm fascinated by the pads on his tiny feet which suction him to the walls as he climbs. He is quite an acrobat as he hangs upside down from the beams. I think he is smiling at me...!!! Life is astounding and wondrous when you take a moment to appreciate the variety and breadth of experience you take in through the gift of your heart sense.
You do Belong.....the Connection you seek is right here for you to Touch!
