Waking Up from a Long Slumber in the Midst of an Existential Crisis

The shut down of the world came as a surprise.  Did you even imagine that it would be possible for nearly 7 billion people to stop their ‘normal’ activities and go into seclusion?  In my part of the world the retreat began in March.  I was suddenly thrust into an alternate reality.  But it took time for me to comprehend the change....

What we are experiencing on the planet is unprecedented.  Never before have we had the magnitude of global interconnection and communication during a crisis that affects every human being, as we are experiencing in this moment.

Much of humanity is focused on the media, the daily changes in life and the effect it is having on distant parts of the globe as the Covid-19 virus circulates around the world.  Where is your focus and attention going?  You don’t need to listen to the news to know something remarkably uncommon is occurring....

Give Me a Break: Change and Transformation is Rocking My World

It has been quite a ride and sometimes as I look back on 2019, I feel like my life was swept up inside a whirligig with the continuous momentum pulling me from one relational experience to the next.  It has been a year of connecting with friends, loved ones and new people, which has been richly rewarding.  There are so many dear people that I did not connect with yet have been so present in my heart.  I remind myself that there is time for everything and how valuable it is to pause and reflect on what this year has brought...

Assumptions and Judgments: Are They Ruining Your Relationships?

1/31/2019

We all do it, make assumptions about the intentions of others.  Words or a behavior of someone disturbs your sense of self or connection and you get triggered from the wounded place inside of you.  Suddenly your thoughts go to the worst scenario about them or your relationship with them.  Your mind goes off into a story about the meaning of their words, actions or inaction and it gets magnified.  These unconscious habits create misunderstandings, conflict, fights and assumptions about the intentions of the other person or their version of the truth.  Whenever you claim to know what was “really” going on inside of another, you are sure to induce a collision of realities.  The battle becomes “whose version is right?”  In all probability neither of you is 100% correct.....

It’s tough when you are triggered.  It happens jet fast.  All of a sudden a prickly energy runs up your spine and you feel the energy rush to your head.  You are ready to fight and hotly defend yourself or your anger turns icy and you freeze out whomever or whatever is disturbing you.  Either way you disconnect.  It keeps you relatively safe, but it doesn’t feel good...

As the year winds down, you may still be feeling the intensity of the tumultuous changes that have been taking place in your life and in the world.  The Chaos discussed in October’s blog continues.  For many it has been a stormy and uncertain time not knowing what it means for the future of the children and upcoming generations, the economy, the environment and the human species.  On a more personal level, you may be anxious about your own future.  There is a heightened sense of concern about matters that were once taken for granted or ignored.  Major upheaval in the world is challenging to your sense of safety and security....

Spring:  Finding the Rhythm and Stability within Change

4/9/2015

Spring awakens us with glorious light.  Even the sound and feeling sense of the word creates images of buoyancy.  It inspires newness and a fresh start.  My first view out of my window this morning was the sight of a rabbit hopping among the flowers.  The symbol of rabbit is quintessentially the essence of spring in so many ways.  Of course, there is the connotation with the religious celebration of Easter with images of children gathering the eggs the Easter bunny has brought.  Eggs symbolize new life, creativity, new beginnings and the seed of new ideas. Since ancient times the rabbit has been the harbinger of spring, well known for their prolific progeny and tremendous growth of new life.  Spring brings a creative outpouring of ideas, possibility, and hope.  The incredible ‘push’ of this energy is at first disconcerting and can even be downright uncomfortable and confusing.  You may feel as though you are being pulled in many directions...

Stressed and can't stop feeling anxious?  You just want relief.  Anxiety and stress are the most common ailments I see in clients.  We all get stressed; anxiety is a normal part of life until it isn’t.  Normal anxiety is helpful when facing an intense situation.  It gets you moving, it increases blood flow to your brain, helps you concentrate and focus your attention.  When it interferes with your life, it becomes a problem.  We have all experienced life situations that induce prolonged anxiety.  Relationship problems, financial or health issues, worrying about the future and traumas are some of the culprits.  Yet, before tackling the underlying cause of our anxiety and stress what we need in the moment is relief.
Thankfully, relief is possible...

The Heartfulness Path is the epic adventure of listening to the voice of your inner guidance while falling in love with your true essence and remembering that

You Are Love

The next frontier is developing a deep abiding love for your emotional body.  It changes your relationship to everything.  You no longer feel powerless and begin to feel safe in the world.  When you understand the purpose of the emotions, you are no longer at the mercy of them or in resistance to them.  You develop a relationship of cooperation and the inner conflict melts away.  Past traumas are transformed into wisdom, compassion and discernment.  It changes how you view yourself in relationship to others and the meaning of unconditional love.  The foundation of this practice is the knowing that ALL of your emotions are purposeful and contain powerful messages and meaning.  The emotions are the language of our body and through which our soul speaks.  The practice of befriending your emotions deepens your relationship with the wisdom of your body connecting you to source energy and internal guidance.  It is a process of learning to engage with, welcome and nurture your feelings, which are the energy and sensations of emotions, and realize the beautiful treasure of guidance and inspiration that they hold.  Feeling allows you to connect to the language of your soul, to knowing your needs, to trusting yourself, to being able to follow your purpose, to seeing that you are an integral part of divine unity and in doing so you are in touch with your authentic self.....
