Mid spring inside rooms stacked high with books, magazines, papers, and paraphernalia finds me sorting through eons of my life. Clothing from the 80’s still smell of good times camping, dinner club parties, couples sans kids, skiing, dancing, singing, playing in the band, and long summer nights throwing darts as we downed tequila and spent hours reflecting on life and the state of the world....

Opening into Compassionate Presence Last year of 2015 was the Chinese year of the Wood Sheep (Ram) where new possibilities, hopes and dreams were gestating. It was also a time of cleansing, releasing and facing difficult truths in order to form new patterns of connection. As you enter the Red Fire Monkey on Feb. 8, 2016, you step into a fresh opening where new aspects of yourself are birthing and developing a healthier connection to yourself and others. Monkeys are inquisitive, quick, adaptable, intelligent, inventive and versatile; monkeys always keep you on your toes. It will be an adventurous fiery year of unpredictability. Monkeys are known to hop from one activity to another, so it is wise to observe what you really care about and what brings you and others love, joy and connection. There will be plenty of creative opportunities opening up. The key is to walk into the year with compassion for your vulnerabilities as well as your abilities... Does your inner voice judge you or demean you? Is a critical voice telling you what you “should” or “should not” do or experience? Do you have a feeling that somehow you are not enough or do not matter? At first, your Inner Critic may wake you up and try to get your attention; “better work on that project, get going, you are going to be late, quit procrastinating, you made a mistake, be responsible, exercise, eat healthier.” It informs and jars you into action. It can be helpful, nudging and prodding you into beneficial behaviors. If you haven’t paid attention, it often turns ugly and begins to berate you. It says mean things about your character; “you are lazy, stupid, ugly, irresponsible, wrong, weak, no good, damaged, you can’t do anything right, nobody will ever want to be with you and you will never amount to anything.” Those may be mild words compared with your critic... Spring awakens us with glorious light. Even the sound and feeling sense of the word creates images of buoyancy. It inspires newness and a fresh start. My first view out of my window this morning was the sight of a rabbit hopping among the flowers. The symbol of rabbit is quintessentially the essence of spring in so many ways. Of course, there is the connotation with the religious celebration of Easter with images of children gathering the eggs the Easter bunny has brought. Eggs symbolize new life, creativity, new beginnings and the seed of new ideas. Since ancient times the rabbit has been the harbinger of spring, well known for their prolific progeny and tremendous growth of new life. Spring brings a creative outpouring of ideas, possibility, and hope. The incredible ‘push’ of this energy is at first disconcerting and can even be downright uncomfortable and confusing. You may feel as though you are being pulled in many directions... Stressed and can't stop feeling anxious? You just want relief. Anxiety and stress are the most common ailments I see in clients. We all get stressed; anxiety is a normal part of life until it isn’t. Normal anxiety is helpful when facing an intense situation. It gets you moving, it increases blood flow to your brain, helps you concentrate and focus your attention. When it interferes with your life, it becomes a problem. We have all experienced life situations that induce prolonged anxiety. Relationship problems, financial or health issues, worrying about the future and traumas are some of the culprits. Yet, before tackling the underlying cause of our anxiety and stress what we need in the moment is relief. Thankfully, relief is possible... You already have the ability to enjoy emotional freedom. You are capable of being centered, of experiencing pleasurable feelings, of opening your energy centers and living with an open heart. The knowledge of the incredible power of your emotions and how your emotions connect you to source is available. True understanding of our emotions and emotional skills were not taught in school nor were they taught in most families. We have been living with a simplistic and often negative view of the emotions. This lack of understanding of the true nature of the emotions has caused us to contract, live in fear, have stress, negativity, depression, conflict, difficult relationships etc. and to be stuck in the survival mode of the first three lower chakras. We have lived long enough in this dense consciousness and have reached a point where many are Ready to Connect with the Heart.... The Heartfulness Path is the epic adventure of listening to the voice of your inner guidance while falling in love with your true essence and remembering that You Are Love The next frontier is developing a deep abiding love for your emotional body. It changes your relationship to everything. You no longer feel powerless and begin to feel safe in the world. When you understand the purpose of the emotions, you are no longer at the mercy of them or in resistance to them. You develop a relationship of cooperation and the inner conflict melts away. Past traumas are transformed into wisdom, compassion and discernment. It changes how you view yourself in relationship to others and the meaning of unconditional love. The foundation of this practice is the knowing that ALL of your emotions are purposeful and contain powerful messages and meaning. The emotions are the language of our body and through which our soul speaks. The practice of befriending your emotions deepens your relationship with the wisdom of your body connecting you to source energy and internal guidance. It is a process of learning to engage with, welcome and nurture your feelings, which are the energy and sensations of emotions, and realize the beautiful treasure of guidance and inspiration that they hold. Feeling allows you to connect to the language of your soul, to knowing your needs, to trusting yourself, to being able to follow your purpose, to seeing that you are an integral part of divine unity and in doing so you are in touch with your authentic self..... When a Grand Trine in Water paired with a Grand Trine in Earth, a bold configuration was formed called “The ‘Grand Sextile’ of July 29, 2013″. Within these stellar geometries, concentrated energies of purification called all of humanity to release any vestiges of fear of the divine feminine so that we can fully inhabit all of our being. Much has been and will be written about this illustrious astronomical configuration and all of the wonders it heralds for our time.... "A lamb, really, a lamb, that's my ego?" This thought washes over me as the image of a fluffy lamb appears beneath my closed eyes when the dream instructor asks, "What is the image of your ego?" Annoyed, I proceed with her next directive, which is to talk to my ego and tell it something. Inwardly, I exclaim, "Would you be more strong and assertive?" Immediately, the now spunky lamb jumps in the air, clicks its black hooves together and lands firmly with a determined look. I cannot help but laugh and my heart softens, "Yes, you are stronger than you appear." As other dream participants talk about their wild monstrous ego images, I feel grateful that I do not have to work at Taming my Lamb.... |
